Following the success of WeMake at Rhodes Waterside, Mirvac Retail is expanding its award-winning maker studio offering to Broadway Sydney with the launch of Create Hub.
Broadway Sydney is renowned for reimagining retail, delivering entertaining experiences, events and spaces, and providing opportunities for the surrounding communities to connect, learn, have fun and be entertained.
The Create Hub space has been specially designed with a colourful, family-themed environment featuring retro games, and is set to provide a new offering for Broadway customers featuring a packed always-on program of kid-friendly DIY workshops and providing an adaptable space for brands and retailers to engage with customers in new ways.
Kelly Miller, General Manager Retail, Mirvac says: “Customer behaviour is rapidly changing, people are increasingly seeking out meaningful and memorable services and experiences. Over the years Broadway Sydney has become renowned for its incredible events, activations and workshops, making it the perfect location to grow the WeMake brand, while delivering something completely fresh and tailored to the audience.”
Led and supervised by qualified teachers, Create Hub workshops will be ‘Drop ‘n Shop’ for primary-school age and older children, allowing parents and caregivers to take time out to do grocery shopping, run errands, browse, or simply take a break in the centre.
The Create Hub (Powered by WeMake) space at Broadway is both functional and versatile, fitted out with flexible furniture, and an adaptable layout, alongside ample power sources and in-built audio capabilities, making it customisable for any brand or business to host their own events and workshops.
The first WeMake studio was piloted at Mirvac’s Rhodes Waterside back in 2020. In partnership with Jaycar Electronics, its purpose was to provide the electronics brand with a space where customers can enjoy hands-on experiences with their products. Since that time WeMake has expanded to so much more and hosted more than 365 workshops for 30+ brands and businesses, with audiences of all ages and passions enjoying classes in robotics, cheese-making, illustrating, art, floral design, DIY skincare, candle and jewellery making and pottery.
“WeMake has been a game-changer at Rhodes, providing locals with a new retail experience. And with the expansion online it has also been invaluable in allowing us to collaborate with our partners in new ways, providing them a unique space or platform to interact and engage with their own communities and providing them exposure to new audiences across Australia,” said Miller.
“Broadway Sydney has such a rich history surrounded by a diverse and ever-changing community, so we can’t wait to see the collaborations, events and learning opportunities the Create Hub will bring to this environment.”
To celebrate the launch of Create Hub on Thursday 15 September, Broadway Sydney is offering families an exciting program of 18 free workshops, each tailored to two different age groups of kids – pre-school (2-3 years) and primary school (4-10 years).
