Lunar New Year is a special time of the year as centres and its community celebrate family, friends, gift-giving and good wishes. 2023 celebrates the Year of the Water Rabbit and brings longevity, peace and prosperity.
To commemorate the Year of the Rabbit, Chadstone – The Fashion Capital invites visitors to celebrate under the gridshell roof, with Lunar New Year gifting, a Luxury Gift With Purchase and traditional holiday dining experiences to conclude the year that has been while optimistically welcoming a new one.
Select Chadstone retailers have welcomed tailored Lunar New Year collections and in-store activations throughout the celebration and visitors can be inspired to find the perfect gift for their friends and family with Chadstone’s thoughtfully curated Lunar New Year Gift Guide.
Until Sunday 29 January, customers can also visit Chadstone’s highly anticipated Lunar New Year Installation, The Garden of Tranquility, where visitors can enjoy a calm and peaceful environment with live piano performances each day during the campaign period. Situated in the heart of Chadstone’s Luxury Precinct, the activation will also double as an in-centre Luxury Gift With Purchase collection point.
This year, on Thursdays to Sundays, visitors who spend a total of $2,888 or more at participating luxury brands in one day, sign up as a Chadstone First member, and present their same-day receipt/s at the Lunar New Year Activation on the same day of purchase will walk away with a $50 Chadstone Gift Card.
The Glen, Box Hill Central, Victoria Gardens and Sunshine Marketplace shopping centres will also be filled with fun, vibrant and creative installations and give-aways to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit.
Two murals measuring 4 metres wide x 2 metres tall will be painted in-centre at The Glen and Box Hill by well-known Melbourne-based artist, CREATURE CREATURE, while a Find Your Fortune experience will be running across all four shopping centres.

The Glen, Box Hill Central and Sunshine Marketplace will also be giving away a limited numbers of red envelopes filled with Vicinity gift cards and exclusive offers from selected retailers.
Shoppers can locate their zodiac sign and scan the QR code to find their fortune in the Year of the Rabbit. There’s also a chance win an original CREATURE CREATURE artwork worth $2,800 and a $300 Vicinity gift card. Chinese astrologer Mina Zheng from Feng Shui Australia will also share her 2023 Chinese Zodiac predictions.
Sticking to a thousand-year-old tradition, the lion dance performance in each centre will spread wisdom, good fortune, and happiness for the year ahead.
