From Saturday, 24 June – 9 July, Chadstone will be home to Australia’s largest-ever balloon installation – POP ART. Built by a team of 20 balloon artists over four days and nights, POP ART takes over several precincts at Chadstone during these school holidays.

The immersive entertainment program features enormous balloon sculptures comprising more than 25,000 balloons that will ignite the imagination of all visitors.

Visitors will experience an enchanting underwater world of oversized sea creatures, coral reefs and an epic battle between a Kraken and a submarine. Made entirely of balloons, this installation will stretch over four levels at Chadstone.

Chadstone Centre Manager, Daniel Boyle, said: “As Australia’s largest integrated retail and lifestyle destination, Chadstone – The Fashion Capital is proud to offer ‘first-to-market’ experiences as part of our promise to deliver visitors more than just a traditional shopping experience.

“POP ART highlights our evolution from a retail landlord to one of Melbourne’s leading cultural attractions, and since 1960 we’ve committed to providing memorable, world-class experiences that celebrate leadership in style, design and innovation,” said Boyle.

The series features prehistoric activations centre-wide, including an impressive underwater world nestled out the front of David Jones.

Step into a land lost in time at the Prehistoric Park where visitors can encounter majestic balloon dinosaurs, snakes, ferns, and volcanos. The centrepiece of this ancient world is a show-stopping brachiosaurus, made from over 10,000 balloons alone and spanning two levels.

The Prehistoric Park will host Chadstone’s school holiday program. Kids can enjoy an interactive balloon dinosaur show at 10am and 3pm daily and interactive balloon twisting workshops where kids will learn how to create their favourite balloon animals at 11:30am and 1:30pm daily.

Visitors will also be surprised by roving entertainment at Chadstone’s newly opened dining and entertainment precinct, The Social Quarter on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

POP ART strengthens Chadstone’s commitment to providing world-class entertainment and first-to-market experiences and further cements The Fashion Capital’s position as an internationally renowned integrated lifestyle and entertainment destination.

The latex balloons used in the installation will be recycled at the end of the program to create outdoor furniture, playground equipment, athletic fields and more.
