Yamanto Central turns soil to mark the start of construction

Yamanto Central has officially commenced construction, announcing stage one of the 25 hectare Yamanto Town Centre will begin servicing residents in early 2021. Designed by internationally-renowned architects Buchan, Yamanto Central will set a new benchmark for retail in the Ipswich-Brisbane corridor. Queensland-based shopping centre owner and manager JMK Retail and development management group DMA Partners will deliver the 20,000m2 retail precinct at Yamanto.

JMK Retail General Manager Vicki Leavy said “Yamanto Central is set to deliver the greater Yamanto district an epicentre with a long-awaited, immersive, social precinct that has been thoughtfully designed to energise the local community to embrace as their own.”

“Yamanto Central is centrally located catering to the existing trade area of 48,000 under serviced residents, who are incredibly excited for the development to be completed. As the catalyst for what the Yamanto Town Centre will grow from, this next-generation subregional shopping centre is set to be a hive of activity delivering much needed retail amenity to one of the fastest-growing regions of Australia,” she said.

DMA Partners Managing Director Ryan Andersen said Yamanto Central Shopping Centre will redefine subregional shopping centres and demonstrate the demand for places that act as a community hub.

“This project is a labour of love from everyone on the development team over the past five years; we are all passionate about delivering an amazing asset to the region. Today marks a momentous occasion as the local hub and core for the Yamanto precinct begins to take shape,” Andersen said.

New services and retail will be welcomed by locals

The shopping centre will anchored by a full-line Coles supermarket, latest generation Kmart, market style fresh food precinct, casual outdoor dining and more than 50 specialty shops.

Coles State Property Manager Andrew Zeller said that local residents can expect a contemporary and exciting shopping experience at Yamanto Central that caters to all their grocery needs in one location.

“Coles is committed to the growing Ipswich community and we’re delighted to work with the developer to bring a state-of-the-art supermarket to Yamanto, which will create more than 80 new retail jobs when completed, as well as new jobs during the construction period. The new market-style store will offer a tailored range and will feature an in-store bakery, open-style meat counter with a qualified butcher, gourmet deli and large fresh produce area”, Zeller said.

The centre will be 20,000m2 when complete
