Westfield Kotara has today confirmed the wait for its $160 million transformation is almost over with the centre’s new youth and urban precinct and 30 new and relocated specialty stores set to open to the public for the first time on 18 October, with more to come in time for Christmas.

Westfield Kotara in Newcastle, NSW will celebrate the grand opening of its new precinct with a four-day schedule of festivities across the centre, from Thursday 18 October. From the official ribbon-cutting at 9am, live music and entertainment to pop-up bars, kids activities including face painting, retailer activations, giveaways and more.

With a series of retailer openings happening across Level 2, including H&M and a new Sheike, excitement is building as Westfield Kotara gears up for the official opening. The new precinct will cater to the Hunter’s youth and young adult audience and will feature a diverse mix of new and existing retailers, including newly announced SK Menswear, Espresso Warriors, W Hair Bar and YD. In addition, Connor, EB Games, Tree of Life, JB Hi Fi, Universal Store, Hype DC, Surf Dive n Ski, Carla Swimwear, Johnny Bigg, Jeanswest, Platypus, Mr & Mrs Jones, Angus & Coote and more will also open on 18 October.

“It’s been 12 months in the making, and I’m thrilled to announce our new precinct and a selection of new and well-loved retailers, will open on 18 October”, says Westfield Kotara Centre Manager, Sarah Sylvester.

H&M to open at Westfield Kotara

“With the arrival of H&M and soon-to-be the region’s first Zara, we’ve curated an incredible mix of retailers across the centre that really cater to the needs and demands of our community. There’s no doubt Westfield Kotara will become the Hunter region’s premium fashion and lifestyle destination of choice upon completion.” adds Sylvester.

Setting a strong precedence for what’s to come, the opening of the new precinct will be immediately followed by a string of additional retailer arrivals across Level 2 as the existing centre’s premium fashion remix evolves. New retailers to follow include first-to-market Zara, Kmart, Gorman, and The Academy Brand.

Up on Level 3, Westfield Kotara will also unveil its expansion of The Rooftop and car park extension later this year, as well as introducing PARK+. The extension will include 500 new spaces opening from October 18. PARK+ will include a new parking management system that uses license plate technology to track parking, removing the need for a paper ticket. Designed to ease congestion, PARK+ will ensure faster and easier entry and exit for customers travelling to and from the centre.
