Vicinity Centres announced this week it has appointed Truman Dare as General Manager, Mixed-Use Development as part of its strategy to explore opportunities to create destinational centres.

This newly-created position recognises the significant potential for alternative property uses to be developed across Vicinity’s vast real estate portfolio. A key focus of the role will be exploring the viability of potential mixed use development and helping to direct Vicinity’s reinvestment towards value-accretive developments to drive income and elevate customer experience.

Truman will commence in early September reporting to Executive General Manager Development, Carolyn Viney, and will be based in Melbourne. Truman joins Vicinity from Cbus Property where he held various development delivery and acquisition roles during a 12-year period. Truman was instrumental in the growth of Cbus Property, focusing on development strategies, new acquisitions, bid management, real estate transactions and project delivery. Prior to being at Cbus Property, Truman held project delivery roles with Multiplex and ISG Interiors (London).

Viney said: “I am delighted to be bringing someone of Truman’s calibre to our business. He is a passionate and well-known development executive, with more than 12 years’ experience spanning from opportunity identification and project origination through to successful project delivery.

“Truman has been extensively involved in a large number of successful and pioneering residential and commercial office developments in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane, making Truman’s skills and experience a great addition to the existing development capability within our team,” Viney said.

Truman’s experience includes the successful conception and delivery of more than 1,000 apartments and in excess of 350,000 square metres of commercial office development, with notable projects including:
447 Collins Street, Melbourne (Mixed Use: Office, Hotel, Residential, Retail), 1 William Street, Brisbane (Office, Retail), 171 Collins Street, Melbourne (Office, Retail), 77 Market Street, Sydney (Retail, Office, Residential) and 35 Spring Street, Melbourne (Residential).

“Together with our national development team, including experts such as David Waldren, National Head of Design, Truman’s appointment highlights our focus on reimagining places and destinations of the future” Viney said.
