A new benchmark in retail, dining, lifestyle and entertainment will soon arrive in Auckland with Scentre Group announcing its NZ$790 million redevelopment of Westfield Newmarket will open in multiple stages from the second half of this year, with construction to be complete by Christmas. Spanning multiple sites, Westfield Newmarket will offer more than 200 retail stores across five levels of premium retail space.

With progress well underway across the four-and a-half-hectare site, Scentre Group Chief Operating Officer, Greg Miles said the development was on track for an end of year delivery.

“We are committed to transforming Westfield Newmarket into a world-class living centre, that will offer unparalleled, first-of-its kind social and retail experiences for New Zealanders. And, I’m thrilled to say we’re delivering on that promise.

“Retailer interest is incredibly strong across all categories and, as you can see from the impressive line-up of local and international brand partners we’ve got on board, leasing is well progressed.
“More than ever before, our customers want to come to our centres for much more than shopping; they want to be entertained, relax, dine, socialise and shop. Increasingly our customers are consuming on site. As such, our living centres are an essential part of our communities’ social infrastructure. At Westfield Newmarket, we’ve listened to the needs and demands of the local Auckland community and curated an experience and retail offering that will be something quite special for New Zealand. A place for locals and visitors alike to keep coming back to,” he said.

Leading Australian furniture and design brand, Coco Republic, today announced it is set to open its first ever New Zealand boutique in mid-2019 at Westfield Newmarket in Auckland.

Scentre Group Director Leasing and Retail Solutions, and Director New Zealand Development, John Papagiannis said “What we’re delivering at Westfield Newmarket is world-class, bringing together the best local and international brands under one roof. Attracting a unique and sophisticated international brand, such as Coco Republic, to Westfield Newmarket is an example of the unparalleled fashion, luxury and design offering our customers can expect at Westfield Newmarket.”

Adjoining the store will be Coco Republic’s hospitality offering, L’Americano, a welcome addition to the inner Auckland dining and coffee scene. The café draws inspiration from film classic The Talented Mr Ripley, transporting guests to an indulgent life on the Italian Riviera.

The 1,000m2 Coco Republic Auckland boutique, marks the first international store for the brand, as well as the first store within Scentre Group’s Westfield portfolio across Australia and New Zealand.

Adding to its growing portfolio of local and international brands, Scentre Group has also announced a number of new and first-to-market retailers. Arriving on New Zealand shores for the first time will be Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq, a popular new entertainment phenomenon.

Soon to house all-of New Zealand’s favourite brands under the one roof, Rebel Sport, Torpedo 7 and Kathmandu will complement Westfield Newmarket’s extensive lifestyle offer. Local favourite Noel Leeming is also confirmed.

Unveiling Westfield Newmarket
• The first opening will unveil three new levels of retail, including the new-format Farmers, first-to-market Coco Republic featuring L’Americano café on level 1 and a mix of international and local brands.
• Auckland’s first rooftop dining and lifestyle precinct, Rooftop on Broadway will closely follow. Anchored by a 2 level White + Wong’s & Sardine Cocktail Bar, the precinct will feature Something & Social and 8 new restaurants.
• Westfield Newmarket will also introduce its extensive fashion offering, launching over 130 retailers over several months. This will include a premium fashion mall anchored by Auckland’s first David Jones as well as an international fashion precinct; both malls connected via an aerobridge.
• In addition, Westfield Newmarket’s fresh food market will open, offering a unique mix of market style experiences and artisan eateries such as Bird on a Wire, Tai Ping and more.

A must-visit retail destination in the heart of Auckland, Westfield Newmarket will bring together the best of New Zealand and the globe, delivering a new world of fashion, beauty, entertainment and immersive lifestyle experiences all under the one roof.
