As the first integrated shopping centre in the region of Sydney Olympic Park and the newest of Sydney’s new class of super neighbourhood centres, Marina Square will service the current 14,000 Wentworth Point population – with 10,000 of these residents now living within just 200 metres of the centre. The total Wentworth Point population is expected to reach 25,000 by 2030.
Billbergia, a private integrated Australian property group and one of the largest developers of waterfront apartments in Sydney saw the need for retail to service this growing community, and on Saturday 24 November officially opened Marina Square to hundreds of excited locals.
Billbergia has developed the two-level, 12,000m2, Coles anchored, convenience-based shopping centre at 5 Footbridge Boulevard, Wentworth Point. The centre is near the footbridge and T-way that connects Rhodes to Wentworth Point.
Rick Graf of Billbergia said that the centre has been designed and developed with the needs of the both local and broader community in mind.
“Residents have told us that shopping and dining options are critical components in building a sustainable residential community in Wentworth Point and surrounds”, he said.
With one of the largest Coles sitting at 4,281 m2 and over 50 specialty stores focused on services, dining and fresh food – there is a lot for the residents to be excited about.
Marina Square has partnered with Sydney Olympic Park Authority and Parramatta Council to curate free experiences to engage, teach and entertain with a pop-up park at Wentworth Place. A five-day program of community events has been designed in partnership with Sydney Olympic Park, City of Paramatta and 107 Projects.
MSQ Art Space has been developed as a pop-up community space. Curated by 107 Projects, it will feature artworks by accomplished local artists Charles Cheng and Henry Zeng. The main exhibition will be complemented with works by other Wentworth Point artists.
Marina Square’s enormous ribbon  dropped on Saturday 24 November and over 18,000 customers visited to join the celebrations with a Welcome to Country ceremony, complimentary celebration cake pops and entertainment from the Hot Potato Band.
