New stores open at Charlestown Square

The GPT Group welcomes global fashion retailers H&M and Cotton On to Charlestown Square. The two-level H&M store is the first to open in the Hunter region and is located in the newly developed section of Charlestown Square that will bring several other international retailers to the centre.

The new Cotton On store is the second largest in NSW and includes many of the group’s popular brands including Cotton On Body, Rubi, T-Bar and Cotton On Home.

Charlestown Square General Manager, Dwight Hodgetts said he has been overwhelmed by the amazing response from the local community to the new retailers.

“Several other retail brands have chosen to open their first Hunter region stores at Charlestown Square. With over 100 fashion stores plus Myer, Charlestown Square is consolidating its position as the Hunter’s largest fashion destination,” said Mr Hodgetts.

Charlestown Square is currently undergoing a remix to ensure it remains the region’s most compelling shopping destination. The final stage of the current $45-million development will see the opening of another major international fashion retailer, expected to be announced in the coming months.

Aldi was added to the mix of retailers recently, joining the Apple Store and Nike, while luxury beauty retailer Mecca Maxima is anticipated to open mid-August.

H&M to open first Illawarra store at Wollongong Central

Global fashion retailer H&M will open its first Illawarra store at Wollongong Central later this year.
Wollongong Central’s Regional General Manager Antony Keenan said the new H&M store would bolster the centre’s position as the Illawarra’s leading shopping destination.

“H&M’s entry into Wollongong Central is another vote of confidence in the long-term outlook for the centre and surrounding Wollongong CBD,” said Mr Keenan.

“Judging by the huge success H&M has had in Australia since the opening of its Melbourne flagship store in 2014, we expect H&M to be one of Wollongong Central’s major drawcards,” he said.

H&M’s planned entry into Wollongong Central follows the recent announcement that David Jones will open a world-class department store at the centre in 2017. SCN
