Due to the lockdown in Melbourne, school holiday fun has ‘gone virtual’ for the first time ever at GPT’s Highpoint Shopping Centre. The centre’s youngest fans are set to enjoy a schedule of creative classes spanning food, science, craft and dance – hosted on Instagram TV. Launching on Saturday 19 September, ‘Highpoint Academy’ will be Highpoint’s refreshed version of its regular and much-loved school holiday program.
Highpoint Academy allows kids to virtually watch and engage with a variety of classes and activities hosted by local Melbourne personalities. Downloadable activities to complement classes means the fun won’t stop these school holidays, despite the extended lockdowns.
Created for those aged between 5 -12 years old, the two-week video and activities schedule will be accessible via Highpoint’s digital channels with videos on Instagram TV, and support material available on the Highpoint website. To make sure everyone can enjoy the fun, all materials required for each masterclass are easily accessible from home or local supermarkets.
Highpoint Academy classes will be hosted by well-known guests including founder of popular bakehouse Bistro Morgan, Morgan Hipworth, scientist and founder of SciencePlay Kids, Dr. Loz, artists Gemma Patford and Tara Whalley, dance instructor Aisha Kuryana and founder of Sprouts Yoga, Lois Kerr.
Highpoint Academy’s class schedule includes activities such as:
- Cooking with Morgan Hipworth from Bistro Morgan Bakehouse, where students can learn how to bake the most delicious cookies and cream muffins from home
- Dancing with Aisha Mary Dance teaches children an easy to follow hip hop routine
- Gemma Patford will teach children how to finger-knit a bracelet for themselves, or someone special
- Science play with Dr Loz from Science Play Kids will teach mini scientists how to create salt crystals.
