Crowds gathered to sample from the five restaurants that opened on Canberra’s new ‘eat street’ this morning: Fenway Public House, The Bavarian, Sushi Musa, Espresso Warriors X Sugar Rush Dessert Barand North East. The sixth restaurant, Golden Child, is set to open mid-year.  Catering to locals who love eating out and socialising with family and friends, all the restaurants are first-to-market concepts or new to the ACT, serving up everything from pub fare and craft beers, coffee and dessert bar, to modern Vietnamese dishes, and fresh sushi delivered by South Canberra’s first sushi train.

The Bavarian draws local crowds

Celebrations kicked off at 8am with live music performed by popular local band The Faumuis. There were particularly long queues at The Bavarian’s first Canberra restaurant as customers waited to get one of the 500 hot dogs that were given away to mark the opening. The festivities will continue today and over the weekend with performances planned from morning to night, along with a Chandon S bar serving complimentary sparkling wine.

Rockpool Dining Group Chief Executive Officer Thomas Pash said he was thrilled to be expanding the Group’s footprint to the ACT and bringing The Bavarian to Westfield Woden.

“Our Bavarian restaurants have a large and loyal following across the country and we’re thrilled to be bringing our first daily-deal packed destination to another state,” Pash said.

Locals welcome the new dining precinct

Designed to be the ‘new local’ for customers in the surrounding suburbs, the dining precinct has been brought to life with edgy artworks from some of Canberra’s best indigenous and street artists and completed with greenery and landscaping, making it a vibrant and welcoming place for the community.

We have created the Bradley Street Dining offer with our customers and the local community in mind, curating a mix of restaurants that will suit any taste or occasion.  We look forward to being the ‘new local’ for our customers.”
