Stockland has commenced construction of a service centre to be located off Kawana Way, adjacent to the $87 million Stockland Birtinya Shopping Centre development, bringing another level of convenience to the local area.
The new Birtinya Service Centre forms part of the broader $830 million Birtinya Town Centre masterplan which will also eventually include a new civic plaza, walkable waterfront and open green space.
The 600m2 service centre will include a Caltex Service Station offering a range of convenience items and fuel, a Guzman Y Gomez restaurant with drive-through, an Oporto restaurant with drive-thru and 48 car parking spaces.
John White, Stockland Regional Development Manager, said: “The Birtinya Service Centre is an integral addition to the broader Stockland Birtinya offering, providing convenience retail, fuel and fast-casual dining to a trade area of more than 135,000 local residents.”
“We’ve listened to the wants and needs of the local community ensuring easy access off Kawana Way which services over 16,739 vehicles daily, and look forward to opening the service station early next year.”
Stockland also continues on schedule with the first stage of the 10,648m2 Stockland Birtinya Shopping Centre, which will feature a Coles and Aldi supermarket, some 40 specialty retailers including two mini majors and an open air dining precinct, as well as 522 car parking spaces. The centre is expected to open before Christmas this year.
White continues, “All concrete tilt panels and structural steel has been erected, and the centre roof is almost complete. The ground works for the centre car park have been completed and the final surfacing will be laid soon. Works inside the centre for our speciality tenancies also continue on schedule. “
“Upon completion, Stockland Birtinya Shopping Centre will be a vibrant and thriving retail town centre and the new urban heart for Oceanside. We look forward to keeping the community updated and officially announcing the names of new retailers soon.”
The Birtinya Service Station and Stockland Birtinya Shopping Centre are estimated to generate approximately 750 direct and indirect jobs. The broader Birtinya Town Centre is expected to create more than 14,600 new full time jobs on completion.
