Woolworths’ newest neighbourhood shopping centre and supermarket at Bannockburn in Queensland’s City of Logan has opened its doors, providing the community a new shopping experience with fresh food, convenience and value as the cornerstones.

Bannockburn Village includes a full-line modern Woolworths supermarket with Direct to boot and pick up facilities. Locals will also benefit from nine specialty stores including a BWS, a coffee shop, a boutique nail bar, and a new medical centre and a dental surgery. The development also features a mural by indigenous artist Casey Coolwell-Fisher.

The new neighbourhood shopping centre represents Woolworths’ commitment in the community, with more than $25 million invested into the centre and 50 new team members employed at the supermarket. Many of the new team members will service the growing popularity of Woolworths’ online delivery, Pick up and Direct to boot services.

Woolworths Bannockburn Store Manager, Jacob Lohrisch said: “My team and I are delighted to offer the local Bannockburn community a great new shopping experience, with a brilliant fresh food offer and the convenience they’re looking for.

Federal Member for Forde, Bert van Manen MP said: “This new shopping hub will not only provide the Bannockburn community with much needed services but create essential jobs for our wider local community.

“I welcome this investment from Woolworths Group into our community, and acknowledge their strong ongoing contribution to the City of Logan.”

State Member for Macalister, Melissa McMahon MP is pleased with what the investment means for a young and growing area: “Additional job opportunities and facilities for Macalister residents are very much welcomed. We have a young region that is growing and will benefit greatly from this investment.”

Woolworths Bannockburn will feature added convenience for customers with dedicated parking bays for Pick up or Direct-to-boot convenience for those using the Woolworths app.

The new supermarket is also committed to growing greener and reducing its impact on the environment and operating more sustainably, so the store has been fitted out with LED lights to reduce power usage, and switched to carbon-efficient refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. There’s also an area in-store where customers can bring in their soft plastics, batteries, phones, etc. to be recycled.

Bannockburn Shopping Centre is targeting a 4-Star Green Star development rated by the Green Building Council of Australia and includes solar panels and rainwater harvesting to reduce the environmental impact of the centre’s operations.
