Thousands gathered at Westfield Carousel to celebrate the official opening on the 31 August of its $350 million redevelopment. The centre’s opening heralded the start of the next generation of retail in Western Australia (WA). Welcoming a new David Jones as part of the centre’s new fashion mall and open-air rooftop dining and entertainment precinct, the impressive retailer mix features many first-to-market and new format retailers for WA.

Westfield Carousel is now the largest centre in WA, increasing by 27,500m2 and spanning a total GLA of 110,000m2. with 330 retailers across fashion, food, lifestyle, dining and entertainment.

Scentre Group CEO Peter Allen said the opening of Westfield Carousel is the latest flagship redevelopment for the company and demonstrates the company’s strategy to evolve shopping centres into living centres.

“At Scentre Group, our purpose is to create extraordinary places, connecting and enriching communities. We have listened to our customers in Perth and are today delivering a customer experience beyond a traditional retail destination.  Westfield Carousel is a place of discovery, which is set to continue as more retailers progressively open, connecting our customers with high-quality and memorable retail experiences as well as offering a vibrant dining, leisure and entertainment precinct to be enjoyed with friends and family,” Allen said.

“Our dynamic approach to curating the right product and services mix in our centres is the reason why customers keep visiting our centres and why our portfolio continues to be the first choice for both new and established retailers to grow their brand and businesses.” he said.

The new-look Westfield Carousel is not only a welcoming place for the people of Cannington, but also brings together customers from across Perth.

Its notable retailer mix now includes a variety of first-to-WA retailers, such as JD Sports, Vans, Criniti’s, TGI Friday’s, Café63 and China Bar. Other stand out retailers include; Mecca Maxima, Seed, G-Star, Sheike, Wheel&Barrow, Endota Spa, Platypus, and more to come following launch including H&M, Bardot and Strike Bowling.

The entertainment offering features a fully refurbished HOYTS, including a 14-screen complex and an upgraded LUX Lounge featuring a menu designed by celebrity chef, Manu Feildel. In addition to HOYTS, Westfield Carousel will also feature a new iPlay, a dedicated kids play area and an outdoor amphitheatre located on the rooftop providing casual entertainment for customers, day and night.

An urban oasis in the South of Perth, Westfield Carousel features lush green landscaping and bold and colourful design features, such as bespoke seating, a sky-light water feature and large-scale artworks commissioned by local and international artists, inspired by the local area.

As part of the major redevelopment, Westfield Carousel has also introduced a range of new services including WA’s first valet service at a shopping centre, dedicated Uber pick up and drop off zones and Park+. Park+ is a smarter parking system designed to ease congestion and make parking easier and more efficient for customers travelling to and from the centre.

From live entertainment, retailer pop-ups and digital art installations to exciting retail offers for customers, celebrations will continue throughout opening weekend at Westfield Carousel.

Westfield Carousel is one of Scentre Group’s three WA centres.  Westfield Whitford City was recently redeveloped with an $80 million transformation of its dining and entertainment facilities.  Along with Westfield Carousel’s redevelopment and plans for Westfield Stirling (Innaloo), Scentre Group’s total investment in WA between 2017 – 2022 is anticipated to be approximately $1 billion.
