Last week, The Square Mirrabooka in Perth hosted its inaugural Community Careers Fair event to help tackle unemployment in the local area.
The local community were invited to discover new career paths and the steps to move forward in their careers. Attendees also had the opportunity to find out about jobs within the local Mirrabooka community, plus gain essential careers, training and employment advice and assistance from industry experts.
Allana Edwards, Centre Manager at The Square Mirrabooka said: “To help combat unemployment, The Square Mirrabooka jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with the City of Stirling, along with local community groups and industry organisations that neighbour the centre, to deliver the Community Careers Fair. Our centre is focused on being a hub for the area, supporting the local community and celebrating the unique cultural diversity. We are proud to have been able to host a community event that connected people with available jobs, study opportunities and career inspiration”
Ten leading community, government agency and industry organisations took part in the event including the City of Stirling, the Jobs and Skills Centre WA, North Metro TAFE, Apprenticeship Support Australia, Status Employment Services and more. Attendees could also hear from industry experts across a variety of topics, at the Fair’s interactive panel discussions and Q&A.
The Community Careers Fair event is just one of the many community focused initiatives the JLL-managed Centre has delivered, including Harmony Week, which celebrated local ethic communities.
