The shining stars of the Western Australian property industry were on show at the Property Council’s 2018 WA Property Awards held at Pan Pacific Perth on Thursday, 20 September 2018.

The 2018 WA Property Awards celebrate the achievements of the retail and commercial sectors of the Western Australian property industry, with a focus on excellence in marketing and management.

Cockburn Gateway Shopping City took home the sought-after MCS Services Retail Shopping Centre of the Year Award with Stockland Riverton being awarded the MCS Services Retail Marketing Campaign of the Year Award for ArtQuarium.

Cockburn Gateway Shopping City also won the Large Retail Awards for Excellence in Marketing and Excellence in Management respectively. Cockburn Gateway Shopping City was named Shopping Centre of the Year, marking the seventh time the company has won the category.

Property Council of Australia WA Executive Director Sandra Brewer commends Cockburn Gateway Shopping City for winning the MCS Services Retail Shopping Centre of the Year Award.

“With shopping centres constantly evolving and finding innovative ways to enhance and drive human connection through the customer experience, what Cockburn Gateway Shopping City has delivered is an incredible achievement,” Brewer said.

Awards Winners

“Over the past year Cockburn Gateway Shopping City has set the bar for creating community-focused campaigns and continual improvement in management,” she said.

“Cockburn Gateway Shopping City’s collaborative Breast Friends campaign increased annual fundraising for Breast Cancer Care WA by an additional $28,822.

“Their in-centre activations succeeded in enhancing the customer experience through key objectives focusing on exceptional community experiences and connecting customers.”

Stockland Riverton’s ArtQuarium won the MCS Services Retail Marketing Campaign of the Year Award and the Small Retail Award for Excellence in Marketing: Innovation Award for its immersive, real-time touch-responsive aquarium that brought the Centre to life, and celebrated sustainability through interactive technology.

The ArtQuarium campaign increased traffic and amplified speciality sales by 18.34%, resulting in a strong return on investment.

Property Council of Australia WA Executive Director Sandra Brewer said: “Stockland Riverton’s ArtQuarium not only delivered the unexpected – but succeeded in creating a customer experience that transformed customer perceptions.”

Stockland Riverton presented well in the Small Retail category, also taking home the award for Excellence in Marketing: Community for the Stockland Riverton Youth Art Awards.

Chancery House won the major Energy-Tec WA Commercial Property of the Year up to 20,000sqm Award after taking out the Outstanding Refurbishment Award: B Grade/C Grade.

Property Council of Australia WA Executive Director Sandra Brewer said: “Chancery House’s strength lay in memorable design excellence and attention to detail.”

“A sense of New York ambience, elegance and style can be felt once you step into the building and the improvements to acoustics and lighting forms a memorable and functional space,” Brewer said.

The David Malcolm Justice Centre took out the final Major Commercial acknowledgement winning the MizCo WA Commercial Property of the Year Award over 20,000sqm, after winning the Commercial ESD & Sustainability Award: Premium/A Grade.

Property Council of Australia WA Executive Director Sandra Brewer said the Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) & Sustainability Award acknowledges innovation and significant improvements in ESD management.

“The David Malcolm Justice Centre has Perth’s first GBCA 6 Star Green Star performance rating – a fantastic achievement that outperformed initial targets with market leading results,” Brewer said.

“A truly deserving winner of the major MizCo WA Commercial Property of the Year Award over 20,000sqm,” she said.

“This award is an absolute testament to the dedication of the team behind the tower who set strong targets for sustainability objectives and exceeded them.”
