Urban Kitchen is back at its most delicious in Rundle Mall for this year’s Tasting Australia, offering one of the foodie festival’s best value events with tickets starting from just $12.

With nearly 40 live cooking demonstrations and masterclasses jam-packed across 10 days from Friday 3 May to Sunday 12 May, the new expanded program at the Gawler Place Canopy is Rundle Mall’s biggest and best yet.

Exclusive to Rundle Mall’s Urban Kitchen, Adelaide’s own MasterChef contestant and clinical nutritionist Malissa Fedele will host an intimate Mother’s Day brunch demonstration, where she will create a mood-boosting brunch of fluffy pancakes with spiced almond butter and berry compote and an accompanying smoothie. Malissa will also share nutrition tips, before rounding out the masterclass with a group mindfulness session.

Throughout the 10 days of Urban Kitchen, Sprout will run live cooking demonstrations three to four times daily, where for just $12, eager home cooks can learn how to pair delicious local produce with some of South Australia’s finest wine, gin, whiskey, and craft beer, before enjoying food and beverage tastings.

These demonstrations will showcase exciting flavour combinations, such as olive oil and shiraz, honey and whiskey, mushrooms and beer to name a few and feature recipes such as olive oil chocolate mousse with berries and hazelnuts, Japanese potato pancakes, and mushroom, chorizo, and pesto breakfast sliders.

Producers showcased across Urban Kitchen include Pendleton Olive Estate, Mollydooker Wines, Harvest the Fleurieu, Raidis Estate, The Honey Alchemists, 78 Degrees, Choice Mushrooms, Big Shed Brewing, Mitolo Family Farms and Red Hen Spirits.

Andrew White, the Adelaide Economic Development Agency’s Rundle Mall Executive Manager, highlights the exceptional value of this year’s Urban Kitchen, offering premium experiences tailored to all budgets.

“Last year’s Sprout cooking demonstrations were a hit with enthusiastic foodies,” said White. “With tickets priced at just $12, attendees can look forward to learning new culinary skills while indulging in tastings of two courses and a drink. We anticipate these demonstrations to be in high demand once again.

“Malissa Fedele and her Mother’s Day brunch is a fantastic inclusion to this year’s program, as are masterclasses with iconic brands such as RIEDEL and Red Hen Spirits. Additionally, we’re thrilled to see Remco return and have a Rundle Mall retailer like Koko Black involved with their own Urban Kitchen events.

“Urban Kitchen is a great way to have a day out in Rundle Mall, sharpen your culinary skills, pick up some new homewares or cookbooks.

“Rundle Mall is more than just a shopping destination, with Urban Kitchen helping put a spotlight on the Precinct’s growing food and beverage offering of more than 100 eateries – from food court vendors and cafes to small bars and restaurants.

“With hundreds of thousands of South Australians coming through the Mall every day, Urban Kitchen helps regional food producers connect with new customers and showcase their brand.”
