Vicinity’s QueensPlaza is kicking off this year’s Indigenous Business Month by illuminating its exterior with specially tailored artwork from Birrunga Wiradyuri of Birrunga Gallery.
Illuminated for the first week of October, the stunning artwork projection was unveiled at an exclusive event hosted by Birrunga Gallery at QueensPlaza, marking the beginning of a week where Indigenous art and business takes centre stage.
QueensPlaza Centre Manager, Emma Chettleburgh, said the collaboration with Birrunga Gallery would help raise awareness of Indigenous Business Month in the most spectacular way.
“QueensPlaza is Queensland’s home of luxury brands, boasting one of the most iconic facades on Brisbane’s revered Queens Street Mall, making it the perfect canvas to display the stunning artworks from Birrunga Gallery,” said Chettleburgh.
“Hosting Birrunga Gallery’s exclusive launch event at the centre gives QueensPlaza customers the opportunity to enjoy Indigenous inspired foods, learn more about the artwork, and connect with artists and Indigenous business leaders.”
Birrunga Gallery & Dining is a unique First Nations facility in the heart of Brisbane CBD that offers authentic Indigenous retail crafts & artworks, Indigenous art tours, social classes, functions and caterings utilising ethically-sourced Native spices and ingredients.
The illumination of QueensPlaza follows more than two years of collaboration with Birrunga Gallery with the organisation provided premium retail space at the centre to showcase the artworks of local young and emerging Indigenous artists, enhancing guest experiences.
