A new shopping centre, Pimpama City with over 18,000m2 of retail space is set to open on September 21, with a fantastic line up of retailers including Coles, Coles Express, ALDI and Best & Less.

The Pimpama region is located on the Gold Coast’s northern corridor and is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia and the fastest in Queensland. In 2011 the primary trade area had 4,758 persons, and as of 2016 the primary trade area sits at 18,983 with double digit growth expected for the next five years. This growth is unmatched by any other shopping centre in Australia.

For more than fifty years, Rix Developments has established itself as one of the top development companies in Queensland, specialising in both commercial and residential developments and are also developing several residential estates near the shopping centre so it was a natural progression to develop Pimpama City Shopping Centre to serve the local residents.

Rix Developments devised a simple tagline for the centre ‘Shopping Made Easy’ where convenience is at the heart of Pimpama City. This ethos has been critical in its planning of the retail mix that will resonate soundly with the demographics of the trade area. Anchored by two major supermarkets – Coles and ALDI, plus a mini major Best & Less and an array of services, the centre will give ultimate convenience to its customers. KFC, Hungry Jacks and Jetts Fitness have joined the line up. An important decision has been made to make all the parking on-grade for easy access to the centre for everyday shopping.

It’s not only the retail mix that the centre has considered. The amenities includes the largest Parents Room on the Gold Coast, and the toilet facilities will be world-class. The common mall areas will be ten metres wide and the 900 carpark spaces will be extra-wide with a width of 2.7 metres which is well above standard.

“The trade area so desperately needs this centre, we should have built it two years ago. Even the Gold Coast City Council couldn’t predict the growth. We are has already met their 2021 population expectations”, said Greg Rix

Rix Development founded by Norm Rix, also developed both the Coomera Grand Shopping Centre and Ashmore City Shopping Centre on the Gold Coast.

“We can’t wait for our launch on Thursday 20 September, we have planned a special evening event, with the Jersey Boys flying in and fireworks for everyone to enjoy”, said Rix

The following day, Friday 21 September, the centre will officially open, no doubt it will be met with excitement from the whole community.
