Thousands of Western Australians celebrated the launch of Charter Hall’s Raine Square’s redevelopment late last month as the precinct opened its doors on the first stage  of its $200 million transformation. SCN hopes to welcome Raine Square to the future  CBD Guns rankings and predicts it will be one of the top performers in the Perth CBD landscape.

Making history in more ways than one, Raine Square’s launch saw the return of cinema to Perth CBD, the first time since 2013, the reopening of a comprehensive city-based supermarket experience with a new look Coles Central, and the reopening of direct tunnel access from  Perth Underground into the precinct offering commuters, visitors and shoppers the best transport connections available.

According to Charter Hall’s Head of Office Development Andrew Borger the new Raine Square is the outcome of  an 18-month, $200 million redevelopment, which now positions it as Perth’s newest entertainment, retail and dining precinct in the literal heart of the city.

“This is the first CBD redevelopment of its kind for Charter Hall. It’s a significant project for us and one that we have been planning for many years.”

“It’s truly exciting to now see how this development connects all directions of the city. It links Raine Square to surrounding precincts in William and Murray Streets via underground walkways; it provides direct platform access from Perth Underground into the precinct; and offers more connection with neighbouring precincts and retailers including Yagan Square and Murray Street Mall.

“With the new cinemas, 18 food retailers and a range of speciality stores in just Stage 1, Raine Square is set to become one of Perth’s most exciting destinations.” Borger said.

Raine Square Stage 1 retailers include Coles Central, Palace Cinemas, Tim Ho Wan, Greenhorns, Thai Thyme, Tokyo Station, Voodoo Coffee, Utopia, CP Curry House, Presotea, Brezel Brothers, Bakers Delight, Maven Espresso, Castro Espresso, Central Convenience Express, Subway, Liquorland, SuperChem, Classic Barber House, NewsXpress and Flight Centre.

Free coffee and retailer giveaways, West Coast Eagle player appearances, cupcakes, musical performances and long lines of visitors, diners, movie-goers were key features of the week long Stage 1 launch celebrations.

The precinct’s Stage 2 (Fashion Precinct) will be due for completion in December 2018 with an exciting mix of local and international big brand names to be announced in early 2019.
