Kawana Shoppingworld was profiled in the current SCN issue and its multi-million dollar redevelopment, which commenced in January of last year has now come on stream. The very first shopping centre on the Sunshine Coast, its major redevelopment in 2014 saw the Mirvac centre present itself as a smart, modern, state-of-the-art retail facility. It is now poised to offer an exceptional entertainment and leisure precinct that will create a new community focal point for the region.
The centre is excited to offer the Sunshine Coast’s first Gold Class and V Max experience, as part of Event Cinemas 6,000m2 multi-screen complex. Planet arcades, a family entertainment centre that caters for everyone, will also be opening.
“We have been able to deliver on time, and in time for Christmas and the summer season, which we hope, will encourage everyone on the coast to come and experience this new offer,” said Claire Torkington, Centre Manager at Kawana Shoppingworld.
In the coming few weeks the centre will also welcome Lone Star, P’Nut Street Noodle, Peak Thai, Pomodoro and The Good Place to complete the new entertainment and lifestyle destination for the region.
“Everything at Kawana has been carefully curated to create an engaging family friendly offering of new and modern choices in dining and entertainment not previously available on the Coast,” said Ms Torkington. “The new precinct will truly enhance the centre as a bustling and vibrant community hub for locals and visitors alike.”
The extensions, reflect the ever-changing market demands of its trade area. The very first shopping centre on the Sunshine Coast, Kawana Shoppingworld has re-invented itself several times.
In its early days, it provided the trade area with simple shopping needs and, over the years, has expanded to include a wider range of fashion, accessories and more discretionary items. In recent times, the food and beverage offer has increased and the dining precinct now boasts a selection of casual dining options from McDonald’s and KFC to Grill’d, the Groove Train, Gelatissimo, Oliver Brown and Guzman Y Gomez.
Kawana Shoppingworld, co-owned by Mirvac and ISPT, is a sub-regional shopping centre located approximately 100 kilometres north of Brisbane, in the suburb of Buddina on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Kawana Shoppingworld offers a convenient and casual shopping experience anchored by all three major supermarkets (Coles, Woolworths and Aldi) and Big W along with more than 160 specialty stores.
