The largest regional shopping centre in Perth’s east, Vicinity Centre’s Midland Gate, opened the second stage of its $100 million redevelopment on Wednesday 21 November which attracted thousands of shoppers.
ALDI, The Reject Shop, JB HiFi and 12 new lifestyle specialty retailers opened their doors for the first time on the day, which coincided with the start of the shopping centre’s holiday festivities.
Midland Gate Centre Manager Alison Broadbent said the official opening and family fun day had marked a new chapter in the history of the shopping centre and had proven a tremendous success. “The launch of the second stage of our $100 million redevelopment was a real hit with shoppers who have seen Midland Gate evolve to become the area’s premier fresh food, lifestyle and entertainment destination,” Broadbent said.
“Traffic at our centre was up 16% on average over the launch period, which we were incredibly happy with The feedback we’ve received is that shoppers have been impressed with the transformation of the centre into a place that meets the growing needs of the broader community.
We also know our customers have welcomed the chance to shop and dine in our vibrant new fresh food precinct, which opened in August as part of the first stage of our redevelopment,” Broadbent added.
Midland Gate’s $100 million redevelopment project has significantly increased the size of the centre, from 55,297m2 to 69,366m2, and has welcomed more than 30 new specialty retailers in total.
