Lutwyche City Shopping Centre welcomes another milestone in the $55 million investment in Brisbane’s inner north with the official unveiling of a 3,200m2 full line Woolworths supermarket on Thursday 21 November.

Some of the key features of the Woolworths store will be the focus on healthy living products such as Woolworths’ own Macro Wholefoods Market brand that includes free range & organic choices. The store will also offer a full bakery, deli and seafood department, employing about 110 people from the local community.

The milestone takes on the theme where local character and characters will be celebrated as this neighbourhood shopping centre embraces heritage.

“The move away from generic-styled neighbourhood centres is a global trend, one that sees the ‘local village’ take precedence over regional hubs. The ‘local’ approach to the redesign of Lutwyche City was adopted to preserve it as the village heart of the inner north, one that so many people call home.” said centre manager David Smith.

The redesign of the centre was driven by Abacus Property Group and co-owners ISPT. Designed by Ignite Architects, with construction works by Built, the centre-wide redesign began in late 2017.

The project included all public realm and landscape improvements, a new fresh food marketplace, creation of the Café Court, additional office tenancies, updated retailer fit outs, new centre amenities, the introduction of a full-line Woolworths supermarket, Papillios Early Learning Centre (home to more than 100 children), a healthcare hub, improved car park lighting and signage, installation of controlled parking and new travelators and lifts.

Complementing the Woolworths opening, the local community will also enjoy some new fresh food retailers including; Steak Kings a gourmet butcher renowned for quality meat, Farm Fresh a local fresh fruit & vegetable operator, The Source Bulk Foods the perfect choice for wholefoods, healthy snack and organic goodies, and Espresso Max Café located in the Café Court.

Since 1974 the centre has been integral to the local community, and the new Lutwyche City will celebrate this heritage and history as a pivotal gathering place for the inner north, while welcoming new spaces, retailers, experiences and services.
