Kardinya Park Shopping Centre has awarded a $44.5 million construction contract to Focus Building Company to complete stage two of redevelopment works with construction on site commencing on 2 April 2024.
Focus Building Company is a construction business built on decades of experience and expertise in the Western Australian construction industry. Focus have recently completed the redevelopment and expansion of the Coles shopping Centre in Angelo Street, South Perth which included two levels of additional multi storey parking and the construction of Yanchep Village shopping centre which created a new Coles supermarket and twelve specialty stores.
David Welsh, General Manager, Focus Building said they are looking forward to commencing work on site and bringing stage two of the redevelopment activity at the centre to life.
“The redevelopment activity at Kardinya Park Shopping Centre is anticipated to engage with numerous local subcontractors and suppliers over the coming 24 months, as we still face many challenges in the construction industry with a shortage of skilled labour in the WA market, it is an exciting time to be working on this new substantial project that will build amenity for the future of neighbourhoods,” said Welsh.
A second contract for the civil works and construction of a new signalised entry to the centre from South Street has been awarded to Dowsing Group.
Stage two of the redevelopment includes:
- Expansion of Coles – 2,400m2 to 3,800m2
- New wellness precinct, corner North Lake Road and South Street
- 360 under cover car bays within a new 550 bay multi-level car park
- New fresh food market
- New signalised intersection for safe entry and exit off South Street
- Relocated bus stop and improved pedestrian access to the centre from South Street and North Lake Road
Upon completion of stage two redevelopment works, Kardinya Park Shopping Centre will have 17,300m2 of retail space.
Kardinya Park Shopping Centre Asset Manager Steve Cuzens said the redevelopment of Kardinya Park Shopping Centre will create a vibrant, accessible, and convenient town centre for surrounding suburbs and visitors to the area.
“Stage two of the redevelopment includes exciting additions here at Kardinya. As we add over 4,000m2 of retail space and a brand new 500 bay parking deck including 360 bays undercover, we are committed to minimising disruption to visitors and the local community,” said Cuzens.
“The new Kardinya Park Shopping Centre development marks the beginning of a transformation of the traditional suburban shopping centre experience into a vibrant town centre,” he said.
