Frasers Property Australia has received permit approval for the first stage of a major retail precinct in its growing Mambourin community in Melbourne’s west.

Anchored by a major supermarket, Mambourin Marketplace will feature 7,200m2 of retail space including a proposed medical precinct, pharmacy and up to 25 specialty stores including fresh food grocers, cafés and restaurants.

A landscaped urban plaza will complement the first stage with approval for children’s play space, artwork, al fresco dining, a central events space and end-of-trip cycling facilities, including bike storage, shower and changeroom facilities.

The $50 million Mambourin Marketplace will be developed by Frasers Property and will complement the recently announced Good News Lutheran College P-12 Campus in creating a vibrant and liveable beating heart in the already well-established Mambourin community.

The new retail development will be further complemented by a gateway retail precinct on Black Forest Rd, which is proposed to include a childcare centre, petrol station and fast-food offerings.

Designed by award winning architects Clarke Hopkins Clarke, Mambourin Marketplace will be an industry leading 5 Star Green Star building featuring a range of green initiatives such as an 800kw solar PV system, 100% renewable energy supply and provision for electric vehicle charging. Construction is expected to begin late this year, with opening planned for late next year or early 2025.

Sarah Bloom, General Manager Development Victoria, Frasers Property Australia said the approval of Mambourin Marketplace spelled the imminent arrival of yet another amenity for a community which already enjoys well-established parks, playgrounds, and walking trails as well as the award-winning residents’ facility, Club Mambourin, with its pool, spa, gym, sports court, function room and café.

“We’re excited to be progressing with the first stage of retail development at Mambourin,” she said.

“Mambourin Marketplace will add to the growing list of amenities available to local residents, as well as providing job opportunities and a central meeting place for the community.”

“Frasers Property has a track record of delivering world class retail developments across Australia and will bring this expertise to Mambourin to create a great local shopping centre.”

Mambourin Marketplace is intended to be the first stage of a major retail precinct planned to ultimately comprise around 25,000m2 of retail space, and potentially adjoin a future proposed train station and local business district, as well as community facilities and the Good News Lutheran College P-12 Campus.

Wyndham is one of Australia’s fastest growing LGAs, with close to 2,400 people already calling Mambourin home, a number that is expected to grow to 4,000 on its completion in 2027.
