Australian restaurateur Chris Lucas has announced plans to open his first restaurant in Canberra, a Mediterranean concept named Carlotta. In collaboration with QIC, Lucas is bringing his revolutionary style of dining with a localised elevated Mediterranean concept, located at the Canberra Centre on Scotts Crossing, set to open in Spring 2024.

Lucas is responsible for some of Melbourne and Sydney’s most innovative and loved dining institutions including the renowned Chin Chin, Grill Americano and Kisumé, as well as the transformation of the 80 Collins Street precinct in Melbourne – home to his revered Society.

Lucas said, “QIC share my vision for working with like-minded creatives to develop exciting precincts with world-class restaurants and bars that set the benchmark for Australian design excellence. Our last collaboration at 80 Collins Street which saw the creation of the stunning Society Dining Room, Lillian Brasserie, and high octane Yakimono is a testament to our shared vision of growing cities through experiences.”

“I’ve witnessed from afar how exciting and energetic the Canberra food scene has become, and I can’t wait to open Carlotta and work with the incredible array of local producers, growers and hospitality talent.”
