Charter Hall has won the award for Best Innovation Program and ranked first on the Property, Construction and Transport List, from more than 700 nominated organisations across Australia and New Zealand.

The prestigious annual AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies List, published by The Australian Financial Review and Boss Magazine, is based on an employee survey and written submission and is assessed by Australia’s leading behavioural science consultancy, Inventium.

Charter Hall was recognised for its industry-first Autom8 solution, which automates the traditionally manual process of collecting monthly sales from its retail tenant customers. The automated retail tenant solution was also recognised in 2021 with the Frank Lowy Fellowship Award.

Charter Hall Managing Director and Group CEO, David Harrison, said, “We are pleased to be recognised for our culture of innovation, where our people are inspired to be curious, resourceful and challenge the status quo.

“Our approach to innovation is practical and partnership-led. We know that good ideas aren’t founded in silos. That’s why we work in close collaboration with our customers, every day, to create with purpose, iterate and problem solve, and generate lasting value for us and them.”

Autom8 is active across all 56 Charter Hall shopping centres

Charter Hall Retail CEO Ben Ellis, said, “With the pandemic driving urgency for contactless experiences, automating the sales collection process was a game-changer to help us deliver a business-critical function in a time of great disruption.

“Prior to Autom8, more than 1,500 specialty tenant customers would spend valuable time via phone, in-person or emailing their monthly sales figures to our retail centre management teams. This in turn, would take our teams a combined monthly effort of 300 hours to process.

“By automating this process, our tenant customers are now able to focus on running their business, and our teams can better support them.”

Today, Autom8 is active across all 56 Charter Hall shopping centres, with 98% of our specialty tenant customers submitting their sales via the portal, each month.

The AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies list (previously the BRW Most Innovative Companies list) is now in its eleventh year. The list ranks the most innovative organisations in Australia and New Zealand, by industry, and is the only national list of its kind.

Mirvac was also recognised in this year’s list for its WeShow innovation.
