Following continued population growth and revitalisation of Brisbane’s western corridor the time has come for St Ives Shopping Centre to join the fold. With Mintus’ recent acquisition of St Ives Shopping Centre, plans have been laid to take the Centre forward and create a well needed hub for Goodna.
According to Ben Stewart, Director – Retail and Residential at Mintus (Owners of St Ives), “We’re proud to bring a revitalized, fresh new look to our Centre”.
The multi-million dollar refurbishment works, designed by POWE Architects, will see the entire Centre upgraded with a new façade, improved LED lighting, resurfaced car park and new toilets/amenities. A new thoroughfare linking the front and rear car park and the introduction of a number of new retailers for both locals and visitors to enjoy is also included.
A complete re-work of the Queen Street and Smith Road buildings will significantly enhance the Centre and create a uniform look across the entire complex as well.
The completed St Ives Shopping Centre will see more than 500 car parks, multiple entry and exit points coupled with new signage which will make it safe and easy to come and go in every direction.
Three new major tenants have already leased large shops being, Anytime Fitness, Discounter Welcome Gifts and Goodna Family Medical Centre. Long-standing reputable tenants including Woolworths, St Ives Fruit Market, Australia Post, Discount Drug Store, Red Rooster and a newly relocated BWS will lay testament to a Centre that delivers on both customer and provider
experience.
Stewart believes Goodna is untapped; “When we added St Ives Shopping Centre to our retail portfolio, we saw it as an opportunity to create something special in an area that will greatly appreciate a more convenient, accessible and modern Centre. We believe the areas amenity and transport (rail and road) together with a refurbished Centre will significantly benefit the local community and be a catalyst for further growth”.
Sam Morahan, Manager – Shopping Centres for CBRE has been given the task to lease the refurbished Shopping Centre. “The artist impressions show clearly that significant capital will be invested by Mintus into the Centre.
Interest to date has been fantastic and we expect to make more exciting announcements as construction commences.” Morahan said
SGB Group have been awarded the building contract and commenced construction last week.
Earlier this month, Mintus purchased West Gosford Shopping Centre, an established neighbourhood centre, anchored by Coles and Liquorland for $23 million from ISPT/Coles.
