AMP Capital has announced Japanese global apparel retailer UNIQLO will open in July as part of the new-look Karrinyup Shopping Centre. Upon completion, the $800 million development will offer approximately 290 specialty stores including high-quality fashion retailers, an inspiring food and beverage offering, new Coles and ALDI supermarkets and a state-of-the-art 10 screen HOYTS cinema.

The new UNIQLO site at Karrinyup Shopping Centre will be the third Perth outlet for the brand with the widest shopfront of all UNIQLO’S Perth stores and will boast 942 m2 of retail space.

AMP Capital’s Divisional Development Manager – WA, Scott Nugent, said upon completion Karrinyup will deliver a shopping experience unlike anywhere else in Perth and securing leading international retailers such as UNIQLO is an important part of the vision.

“We are thrilled to welcome UNIQLO to the new-look Karrinyup Shopping Centre. Adding major international large-format retailers positions Karrinyup as the leading Perth fashion and lifestyle destination. We are looking forward to building on our already strong fashion mix with UNIQLO and delivering a world-class shopping experience for our customers,” said Scott Nugent.

UNIQLO will be one of the anchor international tenants as part of the centre’s expanded fashion offering and the fourth store nationally with AMP Capital, following openings at Macquarie Centre, Indooroopilly and Pacific Fair.

Known for delivering apparel based on the Japanese values of simplicity and longevity, UNIQLO is renowned globally for producing well designed, functional clothing with more than 1,300 stores world-wide.

UNIQLO Australia’s Chief Operating Officer, Kensuke Suwa, said the arrival of UNIQLO at Karrinyup Shopping Centre shows a confidence in the WA market and the development of the new-look centre.

“Having opened our first Perth store at Murray Street in August 2018, the announcement of our Karrinyup site reinforces UNIQLO’s confidence in this market”, Suwa said.

We are excited to be making our range of LifeWear clothing more easily accessible to Australians in the area and are looking forward to fostering local talent as well as becoming a key part of the community,” he said.

The development of Karrinyup Shopping Centre, which AMP Capital is managing on behalf of owner UniSuper, commenced in November 2018 and will see the centre almost double in size, growing from 59,874m2 to 109,000m2.

UNIQLO will open in the Fashion Loop on the northern side of the new-look centre in July 2020, with the entire development of Karrinyup Shopping Centre on target to be complete at the end of 2021.
