Scentre Group have lodged a Development Application (DA) with Penrith City Council to create a new and activated front door at Westfield Penrith’s Riley Street to revitalise the existing shopping centre and establish a night-time economy in Penrith.

The proposal follows the centre’s $33 million redevelopment in November last year, which featured a new Coles supermarket as well as new casual dining and entertainment experiences. The investment included the repurposing of the existing Target tenancy, which made way for the new Coles supermarket, additional casual dining business partners, as well as Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq and Holey Moley.

Scentre Group Director Development, Design and Construction, Stewart White said: “Listening to our customers and understanding the future needs of local communities, is at the heart of our strategy and ambition to become ‘essential’.

“It informs our planning and how we continue to curate the customer experience at our Westfield destinations. At Westfield Penrith, we know dining and entertainment remains high on the agenda for our customers.

“This will include significant upgrades to the existing HOYTS cinema, with the introduction of two new HOYTS LUX cinemas. It will make way for several new and exciting dining experiences facing onto Riley Street, plus a rooftop destination for the community to enjoy.

The redevelopment will deliver a new three-level dining precinct in addition to expanding the cinematic offering of HOYTS

“The redevelopment will also include new amenities and new escalator and lift connections from Riley Street into the centre and basement carpark.

“We look forward to working with Council and relevant stakeholders throughout the planning process,” said White.

HOYTS Director of Property and Business Development, Tyrone Dodds adds: “HOYTS has been a part of Westfield Penrith since opening in 2002, and we’re pleased to be part of the redevelopment plans that have been submitted to council, which will provide our state-of-the-art entertainment facilities to the area.

“The evolving needs and expectations of our guests are front of mind for us, and we’re looking forward to bringing the best range of options to the area.”

The investment in 2022 saw the transformation of Riley Street façade with illuminous light panels and new entrance to the entertainment precinct
