Despite COVID setbacks, Australia’s new entertainment hub is booming through phase 1 of its development. Since 2015, the Distillery Road Market (DRM) team has worked to revitalise the location and create a space where people can come together at 124 Distillery Rd, Eagleby, in the heart of Logan.

From the opening of Kiwanda Café and Zarraffa’s Coffee HQ and roastery in 2018, through to the establishment of the Sugar Creek Smokehouse last year and their latest addition, Posadas Cantina, things have been building.

Now, DRM will transcend what is on offer in traditional retail precincts and transform people’s expectations of what is possible from a lifestyle destination. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday DRM will showcase some of the most outstanding local food, art and music with the launch of its weekend markets.

The markets will appeal to foodies in the community

Kenton Campbell, Founder of Zarraffa’s Coffee and CEO of Tonken Property Group, which is the project developer for DRM, said the vision was to deliver people more of what they want: a localised food centric experience.

“We have designed our weekend markets to celebrate our region’s love of fresh produce, dining and entertainment, offering guests a unique experience each time they visit,” said Campbell.

Situated halfway between the Gold Coast and Brisbane, and established in a re-purposed, reignited space, DRM is inspired by the likes of Chelsea Market in New York and Borough Market in London, with Campbell and his team on a mission to grow a happening, playful, and dynamic experience that puts people at the heart of their food journey.

The markets are an exciting addition that will attract customers from near and afar

“DRM offers a huge variety of goods, foods, entertainment and produce in one vibrant location. Spotlighting some of the best stallholders and marketers in the game, DRM will be home to many, from the heirloom gardener, florist, farmer-grown produce, street food vendors, dessert purveyors, artisans and crafters”, he said.

Trucks & Tunes is the first market experience that has come to life at DRM, a music and food hybrid, which takes place every Friday and Saturday night from 4pm to 8pm. From German Sausages to Paella, popcorn and ice cream paired with beautiful tunes from local musicians, visitors are in for a real treat.

“It’s a chance for locals to devour delicious food made onsite by an epic line-up of local food trucks and stalls while enjoying a revolving roster of local music acts with the whole family,” added Campbell.

Local entertainment will be a feature of the markets

From mid-September, the space will transform into a colourful market heaven for the DRM Bazaar on Saturday and Sunday mornings, 7am to 1.30pm.

“We have an exceptional array of stalls set up for the DRM Bazaar markets, from plants and fresh flowers to local honey, fresh fruit and vegetables, and even Vinyl Record Sales, there will be something for everyone to enjoy”, said Campbell.

With seating for up to 150 people, the DRM markets will be held weekly on the southern carpark site, offering locals drawn from Brisbane to the Gold Coast an experience closer to home, while welcoming visitors from all over to Australia’s newest food precinct and emerging entertainment hub.

“This is just the beginning and there’s much more to come in 2022, as we open the entertainment precinct, more eateries and a brewery”, said Campbell.

Distillery Road Market will set new benchmarks for food and be a community hub

With more than 600 car parks available at the precinct, DRM is located advantageously along the Gold Coast/ Brisbane growth corridor in the rapidly growing Logan City and is both visible and easily accessible from the M1 Motorway.
