On Wednesday 29th June, Shaun Bonett, CEO and Managing Director, the Board and Executive of the Precision Group of Companies hosted a gala dinner, at Sky City Adelaide ballroom to celebrate the completion of the new Port Adelaide Plaza Shopping Centre – a celebration that has been a quarter of a century, in the making.
Shaun Bonett founded Precision Group in 1994 and in 1997, made the Group’s first major acquisition of the Port Canal Shopping Centre along with the adjacent Customs House office building in Port Adelaide.
The vision Precision Group set for Port Adelaide Plaza was in direct response to customer needs and trends. It was this vision that supported the Groups business confidence in South Australia, with the investment of $75 million to upgrade and redevelop the old Port Canal Shopping Centre to more than 29,000m2. The most significant retail development in Port Adelaide in decades.
Linking major retailers Coles and Kmart to a brand-new ALDI, The Reject Shop, 70 specialty stores, along with an increased car park capacity and the commitment to new stores by national brands and tier-one retailers demonstrated the significant level of interest in the Port Adelaide Plaza redevelopment.
Port Adelaide Plaza currently has 97% of the lettable area leased on a lease term of at least five years.
More than 100 invited guests, joined Shaun and Precision Groups Chairman Jim Hazel and Executive Director Steve Bonett. Special guests included The Hon Kyam Maher MLC, South Australian, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General, Minister for Industrial Relations and Public Sector Attorney-General, and Mrs Carmel Maher, and Federal Minister for Trade and Tourism Special Minister of State, Senator for South Australia, Senator Don Farrell and Mrs Nimfa Farrell.
Life Ed’s Healthy Harold and a special Acknowledgement of Country greeted guests. South Australia’s own Lisa MacAskill was the MC and the night included a performance from one of Australia’s biggest stars, Dami Im.
Other guests included representatives from, Precision Group’s financial partners, National Australia Bank and the Bank of China, major retailers ALDI, Coles, The Reject Shop, owners David Norton and Jonathon Abbas from Blackbird Fitness, Justin Levis Executive Director at Cue Clothing Company and Port Adelaide Enfield Council, Director of City Assets, Mark Buckerfield.
Both Shaun Bonett and Trevor Dill, Precision Group’s Chief Operating Office gave speeches to thank and acknowledge the great work of a very diverse group who believed in Port Adelaide Plaza and supported Precision Group on this journey and contribute to Precision’s achievements in Adelaide.
Precision Group prides itself on being a people-focused company and the agenda for hosting such as event was a simple one – to celebrate Precision Group and Port Adelaide Plaza by bringing the people together that have contributed to its success. A celebration to launch Port Adelaide Plaza, and an opportunity to say thank you.
