On Friday 9 September, Paradise Centre on the Gold Coast officially opened the doors to its hotly anticipated new beachfront dining precinct, welcoming its first guests to explore the stunning revitalisation which boasts eight eclectic new dining offerings in the heart of Surfers Paradise.
The precinct was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Mayor of the Gold Coast Tom Tate and Destination Gold Coast CEO Patricia O’Callaghan, which was followed by an action-packed three days of family-friendly activities for the local community from September 9 – 11.
The new $40 million redevelopment is a foodie destination for tourists and locals, pairing next-level dining with stunning views of the world-famous Surfers Paradise beach.
Adam McKean, Head of Retail for Paradise Centre owners Challenger said he was excited to open the transformative re-development to the public for the very first time.
“It’s incredibly rewarding to see Paradise Centre’s highly-anticipated redevelopment come to life following 16 months of production and the combined effort of more than 900 skilled workers.
“The precinct brings an impressive eight new beachfront dining options to the heart of Surfers Paradise, further diversifying the region’s restaurant offering for both locals and the 13 million tourists that visit annually.
“For more than 40 years, Paradise Centre has been a quintessential piece of Gold Coast culture and we are thrilled to unveil this stunning revitalisation which features an eye-catching design and a mouth-watering array of dining options that will be sure to serve as a welcome addition for so many locals,” said McKean.
Sarah Debono Marketing Manager for Paradise Centre lessors JLL said the precinct is set to reinvigorate outdoor dining in the Surfers Paradise region.
“We invite the local community to explore the precinct’s new offerings spanning globally acclaimed eateries including legendary tex-mex restaurant El Camino Cantina, as well as Queensland’s very first iteration of the famous Wahlberg family’s gourmet burger franchise Wahlburgers and all-time American favourite TGI Fridays which are both set to open in the coming weeks.
“Other sumptuous flavours to enjoy are 40 varieties of gelato from the iconic gelato leaders at the Gold Coast’s only Gelato Messina, delectable dishes made using local and unique ingredients by Nahm Talay Thai, fresh and crowd-pleasing favourites from Hero Sushi, authentic Italian cuisine cooked with love by Enzo’s Cucina and, La Playa’s premium barista-made coffee and modern Australian cuisine,” said Debono.
Destination Gold Coast CEO Patricia O’Callaghan said the launch of Paradise Centre’s outdoor dining precinct marks a landmark expansion of the Gold Coast’s tourism offering that will benefit both workers and holidaymakers.

“Featuring world-renowned eateries and retailers, the precinct’s re-development helps bolster Surfers Paradise’s outdoor dining offering and provides holidaymakers with a smorgasbord of restaurant and entertainment options just metres from the Surfers Paradise beachfront.

New offerings that are now open at Paradise Centre’s beachfront dining precinct include El Camino Cantina, Hero Sushi, Nahm Talay Thai, Gelato Messina, La Playa and Enzo’s Cucina. Queensland’s first-ever Wahlburgers and TGI Fridays are also set to open their doors in the coming weeks.
Paradise Centre has also opened its doors to an expanded retail offering, unveiling the newly refurbished Eastern Mall as part of the redevelopment. Shoppers are invited to explore a variety of new clothing stores including Baku Swimwear, Rip Curl, Stateside Sports, and upcoming additions Ava Beauty and Fast Times Skateboarding, which join recently launched Surf Dive N’ Ski and Vans.
The redevelopment adds to Paradise Centre’s offering of 90+ specialty shops, complemented by an alfresco dining precinct and exciting entertainment precinct which boasts the world’s largest Timezone, Zone Bowling, MANIAX Axe Throwing and a host of upcoming venue openings.
