Residents in Moreton Bay are set to experience a new frontier in retail shopping as Warbu Bellmere Shopping Centre opens its doors today.
Located at 96 -110 Bellmere Road, the 5,300m2 new neighbourhood shopping centre features a full line Woolworths supermarket with Direct to Boot pick up facilities, as well as 15 other speciality stores including café, gym, retailers and a children’s playground. The centre also features a mural by Kabi Kabi artist, Jason Douglas, of Dalmarri Art.
Woolworths State Development Manager Chris Sheehan said: “We’re delighted to celebrate the official opening of Warbu Bellmere Shopping Centre. This includes our very first store in Bellmere, and is the perfect representation of the fantastic offering which we aspire to deliver for our communities in Queensland.
“We’re proud to have delivered a modern and contemporary neighbourhood shopping destination, anchored by a state-of-the-art full-line Woolworths supermarket, to meet the needs of the local community.”
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said this was an enormous investment in a growing community.
“This isn’t just about shopping convenience and variety, it’s a major local jobs creator that has been thoughtfully designed and developed to become a gathering point for the Bellmere community,” Mayor Flannery said.
“Importantly, Woolworths has already delivered major road upgrades for locals by converting the roundabout into an intersection and widening it to four lanes.
“So this is an all-round investment in the liveability of Bellmere, and a great example of what we can achieve for our community.”
At the heart of the Warbu Bellmere Shopping Centre is a brand new Woolworths supermarket, offering innovative and convenient shopping solutions to local customers. The store covers 3,650m2 of the new centre and is stocked with an extensive range of fruit and vegetables, a selection of 100% Australian meat and a great variety of local seafood available in its instore fish market.
Local producers Maleny Dairies and Queensland Yoghurt will be ranged at the new supermarket, while customers will also notice a large Macro Wholefoods Market offering, a large selection of plant-based protein, and a dedicated offering of gluten-free goods throughout the store.
Woolworths Bellmere Store Manager, Christina Fenton, has worked with Woolworths for 17 years. Ahead of the store opening, she said; “My team and I are excited to offer local residents a new shopping experience.
“A huge part of the journey to open our new store at Bellmere has been welcoming over 120 new team members from across the local community. After weeks of training and preparation, everyone is ready to support customers or offer recommendations on their shop.”
The new Bellmere supermarket has implemented a number of offerings to help customers shopping in-store and online. This includes eight dedicated parking bays for the Direct to Boot service. After placing their order online, customers can simply confirm when they’ve arrived via the Woolworths app or SMS link to notify the store team who will then come and deliver their groceries right to their car.
The local Woolworths store team is proudly partnering with OzHarvest, with their drivers set to collect surplus fruit and vegetables to help provide meals to locals in need.
Warbu Bellmere Shopping Centre is targeting a 4-Star Green Star development rating, rated by the Green Building Council of Australia, with more than 500 solar panels that will offset 20% of the supermarkets’ electricity usage.
