Lead the Way is an independent series presented on YouTube that interviews Australia’s top CEOs, politicians and business owners about how they have been faring during 2020, their outlook for the future and where they see the biggest opportunities coming out of the pandemic.

Hosts Nerida Conisbee, Chief Economist, REA Group and Zelman Ainsworth CBRE Director of Retail Leasing in Victoria, created the Lead the Way platform to stay connected to the market, during a very disconnected time.

“We have been overwhelmed by the quality of our guests,” said Ainsworth. “The value in having an independent voice without trying to sell or push any agenda is very powerful. We are so humbled and grateful to be able to facilitate these interviews, especially during lockdown.”

Since the series first began in early August, Nerida and Zelman have interviewed a number of CEOs including Adrian Pozzo (Cbus Property), Jonathan Callaghan (Investa Property Group), Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz (Mirvac), David Harrison (Charter Hall) and Anthony Boyd (Frasers Property), business owners Sam Tarascio (Salta), Tim Gurner (Gurner), Mark Leibler (Arnold Bloch Leibler), Chris Lucas (Lucas Restaurants), Callum Fraser (Elenberg Fraser), Karl Fender (Fender Katsalidis), Shane Quinn (Quintessential) and Wayne Lasky (MaxCap), property industry leaders Carolyn Viney (Vicinity Centres) and Alton Abrahams (AsheMorgan), as well as Melbourne’s Lord Mayor, Sally Capp.

“It has been fantastic to learn from leaders of industry, particularly during this difficult time, as well as hearing about their vision for the future,” said Conisbee. “No one under 40 years has ever been in the workforce during a recession and our guests have also provided useful advice as to how to navigate a career during this time.”

“We are aiming to ensure that the series continues to include a personal twist,” added Ainsworth. “Each guest also provides details on how they have personally handled the pandemic, the food they ate too much of and the television shows they enjoyed the most. Working from home does have benefits and challenges. Personally, I found it strange having my children pop up in interviews but it’s how we are all working this year.”
