Perth’s premier fashion and lifestyle destination Karrinyup will celebrate the launch of the next stage of the new-look centre today with an assortment of centre-wide activities, headlined by an exclusive runway show with a collection of leading Australian and international designers.
The long weekend of launch festivities, running from today Thursday 7 October – Sunday 10 October, will mark the arrival of more than 40 new major international and Australian retailers across the centre’s fashion, lifestyle and beauty precinct The Loop, Level 1, and The Café Terrace.
Sparking ‘A Taste of Fashion’ is the completion of two levels of premium fashion at The Loop, which is set to be home to WA’s largest collection of Australian designers under one roof.
AMP Capital’s Divisional Investment & Development Manager WA, Scott Nugent, said the launch weekend would set the tone for what’s in store at Karrinyup, “Karrinyup is set to be home to an unrivalled collection of many of the best Australian and international brands. Our launch weekend is a unique opportunity to highlight the exciting mix of retailers on offer at the new-look Karrinyup.”
Karrinyup has collaborated with a host of globally renowned brands launching at the centre spanning the likes of Aje, CAMILLA, Viktoria & Woods, Scanlan Theodore, Oroton and Ralph Lauren Polo to bring a bespoke, open-air runway show to life. Each designer has created a custom look inspired by Karrinyup’s coastal energy.
Channelling Karrinyup’s coastal home, the ‘A Taste of Fashion’ runway show will be set against a purpose-built outdoor set personalised with natural textures and colours synonymous with WA, carefully concepted to create the perfect stage upon which to showcase the very best of Karrinyup’s Australian and international fashion retailers.
Creatively overseeing the project alongside stylist Teagan Sewell, renowned Australian fashion industry identity, stylist and Creative Director Mark Vassallo said the carefully curated mix of local, national, and international retailers at Karrinyup presented a one-off opportunity to create a fashion moment unlike any other retail centre in the country.
“Karrinyup really let the designers take the brief and run with it, and what we’ve ended up with is a fashion moment brimming with carefully curated and one off looks, each imbued with the essence of WA and Karrinyup’s coastal energy,” said Vassallo.
Owner of renowned Australian label Morrison, Kylie Radford said the move to Karrinyup was the natural next step for the Western Australian brand and one she knew customers would embrace entirely.
“Opening at Karrinyup is something we’d been looking at for a few years and it’s incredible to see it start coming to life. We’re so looking forward to being part of the unparalleled collection of international and Australian retailers at the centre, and we’re thrilled to be able to celebrate the arrival with the beautiful runway moment”, said Radford.
“The completion of The Loop and The Café Terrace mark a significant milestone for Karrinyup. We know that our customers will be impressed by the curated mix of high-quality fashion, beauty and lifestyle retailers alongside leading hospitality venues and convenience shopping now on offer at Karrinyup. We have plenty planned across the weekend and are so excited to welcome our customers and the community to experience the next stage of the new-look Karrinyup,” said Nugent.
The Loop, Level 1, is now home to major Australian and international retailers spanning the likes of Sephora, MECCA, Zara, H&M, UNIQLO, Coco Republic, Scanlan Theodore, Viktoria & Woods and Aje.
The Café Terrace will bring a host of local and international cuisine to the centre. With its own internal kids play area and scenic views over Lake Gwelup and the City, The Café Terrace will offer customers a place to recharge.
This week’s launch follow a series of events on 29 July which celebrated the opening of more than 60 new sporting, streetwear and lifestyle retail stores at The Loop, Ground Level, and as part of the brand-new Fresh Market.
The $800m development of Karrinyup which AMP Capital is managing on behalf of owner UniSuper, has been Perth’s largest commercial construction project since development began in November 2018. The centre has almost doubled in size, expanding from 59,874m2 to 109,000m2 and approximately 290 stores.
The development has boosted the Western Australian economy and retail sector with the creation of approximately 2,500 jobs during construction with a further 2,500 new retail, support and management jobs expected once complete.
