One of Australia’s most-loved and longest trading retailers, Harris Scarfe, has officially returned to Sydney by opening its Rockdale store last week.

Spotlight Group acquired Harris Scarfe in early 2020 and the Rockdale store represents the first new Harris Scarfe site in Sydney under the new ownership. The brand is well-known in its home states of South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania, and this push into Sydney demonstrates Spotlight Group’s confidence in the Harris Scarfe format.

To celebrate the grand opening of Harris Scarfe at Rockdale, locals enjoyed a ribbon-cutting ceremony from The Living Room host and Harris Scarfe ambassador, Barry Du Bois, as well as free donuts for customers.

Harris Scarfe CEO Graham Dean said the Rockdale store opening will be a boost for the local economy. “We are excited to be able to provide Sydney with access to great brands and great prices in homewares, manchester and apparel with the signature Harris Scarfe customer service that our shoppers know and love,” said Dean. “Harris Scarfe offers a balance of well-known brands and exclusive designers and delivers great value and we’re pleased to be bringing this back to our loyal Sydney customers.”

Executive Deputy Chairman of the Spotlight Group, Zac Fried, said 2021 marked a new chapter for Harris Scarfe: “Under the new ownership of The Spotlight Group, we are committed to seeing this established business grow and meet its true potential,” he said.
