One of Australia’s largest and most popular health clubs is set to strengthen the line-up at Brisbane’s highly anticipated new riverside retail hub at Yeerongpilly Green after inking a long-term lease.
Goodlife Health Clubs will open a brand-new, purpose-built 1,600m2 space at YG Riverside Village, forming the beating heart of the vibrant health and wellness precinct and become the second major tenant announcement after Woolworths signed on as the anchor tenant.
YG Riverside Village is a 11,600m2 retail hub being developed by Consolidated Properties Group and CVS Lane Capital Partners at Yeerongpilly Green which will be comprised of a modern, full-line Woolworths supermarket, boutique offices, specialty retailers, a dining precinct, a major gym and wellness precinct in addition to secure basement car parking.
Construction has begun on the BVN-designed retail centre, which is being built by Hutchinson Builders and is due to open mid-2023.
Fitness & Lifestyle Group Head of Property Ash Rowe said expanding the Goodlife Health Clubs network to YG Riverside Village was an exciting development.
“Goodlife Health Clubs is excited to join a vibrant community with our unique full-service health club offering,” he said.
“From Reform Pilates to group fitness classes, free weights and world-class equipment and facilities, the new club will perfectly complement the exciting YG Riverside Village retail hub.
“We are a destination business as well as being convenience-driven, so the safe and easy accessibility of the retail hub is perfect for us.
“Supporting our new and existing members in their health and fitness journey is our passion which makes Goodlife the ideal addition to the wellness precinct.”
Rowe said the design has been heavily influenced by biophilic design, which refers to increased connectivity to the natural environment through the use of light, plants and open-plan natural environments.
“It’s about using greenery to bring the outside in and create a welcoming and relaxed environment.”
Consolidated Properties Group National Manager for Retail Leasing, Rob Clifton said CPG was delighted to partner with Goodlife for YG Riverside Village, providing another major attraction for the local area.
“Goodlife is a premium fitness club offering having an established and proven local following,” he said.
“Given the enhanced range of offering and increased footprint, we expect this new YG Riverside health club will attract a significant number of members.
“We are working closely with JLL to make sure that the tenant mix is exactly what the local community is looking for.”
JLL’s Taylor Macri, who brokered the deal with colleague Cameron Taudevin, said the YG Riverside Village lineup is fast taking shape as retailers come to understand the value of the retail mix and overall quality of development on offer at Yeerongpilly Green.
“In addition to Goodlife we’ve brought on a raft of new tenants recently, including a nail bar, hair salon, barber shop and massage shop and are in advanced discussions with several premium food and beverage offerings,” Macri said.
“This area is crying out for a retail development of this calibre, and judging by the level of inquiries we are fielding, there is a lot of interest in the precinct.
“There are a couple of tenancies remaining for lease with the project due to open in the second quarter of the year.”
