On Sunday 7 May, the Box Hill community in Sydney’s north-western growth corridor came together to celebrate the Grand Opening of Carmel Village Shopping Centre with a ‘Family Festival’.
Carmel Village is anchored by Coles and ALDI, with 31 specialty tenants bringing an exciting mix of retail, eateries, and services to provide convenience for the local community. The retail offer includes ten tenants that provide health and well-being services. Plus, an Eat Street with a range of cuisines and alfresco seating for families to enjoy.
The centre is owned by Mogul Stud Pty Ltd and has been designed with consideration of the local environment and history of the area.
Carmel Village forms part of the Carmel View and The Hills of Carmel residential developments.
The opening of Carmel Village completes the first phase of the social and commercial infrastructure planned for the area, which will include an entertainment precinct, various pad site opportunities and a substantial commercial development.
The Grand Opening Family Festival saw a combination of community and promotional activity, including children’s entertainment, live music, local dance school performances, Rural Fire Service activation, paper crane origami workshop to represent the centre design and freshly squeezed orange juice giveaway to honour the history of the land as a family farm and orange grove.
The opening ceremony featured special guest, The Honourable Stephen Kamper MP, Minister for Lands and Property, plus a range of local members and dignitaries.
Richard Scheinberg from Mogul Stud Pty Ltd said, “Development is about community building, and this centre is another step in building our community. We have worked tirelessly to ensure that this centre not only provides a great shopping experience but also becomes a hub where people can gather, connect, and build relationships.”
“We believe that this centre will be a catalyst for economic growth and development in the surrounding area, creating jobs and opportunities for all those who live and work in this community.”
The centre’s architecture emulates the Japanese origami crane, which symbolises honour, good fortune, loyalty and longevity.
To further enhance the community hub, two play spaces have been included – a water play space plus a ‘tractor’ play area as a nod to the farming history. To assist the strong family demographic, the centre boasts two sets of amenities, including two parents’ rooms.
