On Wednesday 2 November, Vicinity’s Bankstown Central opened its revitalised fresh food market, bringing an exciting range of fresh produce, grocery and specialty food products to the centre.
With a fresh new look, The Grand Market includes speciality retailers, a brand-new Coles supermarket and artisan food stores to meet the needs of the diverse community.
The opening of The Grand Market and the centre’s new retail precinct completes the first phase of Vicinity’s vision to transform the heart of Bankstown with its retail-led mixed used strategy.
Bankstown Central Centre manager, Eddie Paynter said, “The opening of The Grand Market is an exciting milestone that establishes Bankstown Central as the go-to retail and fresh food destination – a place where customers can shop international fashion brands, find hard-to-come-by ingredients and do their weekly shop all under one roof.
“Curated to meet the needs of Bankstown’s ethnically diverse community, The Grand Market also celebrates the rich history of Bankstown, with historical elements including the original terrazzo Grand Market motif, preserved as part of the project.
“We’ve engaged with the local community to bring a carefully curated range of food and fashion retailers that meets the evolving needs of the community today and into the future.”
The Grand Market is conveniently located on level one of the centre and can be directly accessed from the new car park, built to enhance accessibility for customers.
The new fresh food retailers join leading brands including Uniqlo, a flagship Footlocker and Glue Store, which launched recently as part of the retail precinct upgrade.
The Grand Market and recently launched new retail precinct marks the completion of the first phase of Vicinity’s mixed-use redevelopment of Bankstown, with a combined value of $63 million.
Vicinity’s masterplan vision for Bankstown is to create a mixed-use community, a place for Bankstown’s future workers, students, healthcare professionals, and residents to call their own.
