Lendlease has announced the appointment of DTL Entertainment Group to re-launch the Sydney institution Jacksons on George at its Sydney Place development in early 2023.
DTL Entertainment is led by entrepreneurs Paul Ford and Steve Bannigan, acclaimed Australian restaurateur Maurice Terzini and publican Michael Broome.
In partnership with his DTL Entertainment Directors, Terzini – best known for his role as the powerhouse behind the world-famous fine-dining destination Icebergs Dining Room and Bar in Bondi Beach – will revamp the iconic Australian restaurant and bar within Lendlease’s Circular Quay development.
“It’s been a tough few years for Sydney’s hospitality industry but we’re committed and more than ready to turn this around. It’s time to become a global city again. At Jacksons, we’re creating an innovative, exciting destination where the food and drinks will be simple and elegant, the service will be traditional, and the atmosphere will be unforgettable,” said Terzini.
The new three-level, 1,036m2 modern Australian gastro pub and restaurant will offer additional dining options and an outdoor rooftop terrace overlooking the new George Street Public Plaza and urban laneways which will include more than 20 retail shops and signature dining.
Simon Van de Velde, Head of Leasing, Lendlease said: “We’ve reached yet another important milestone for Sydney Place, as we engage with Maurice Terzini of DTL Entertainment to breathe new life into an old favourite.
“Leveraging our global expertise in placemaking, we’re taking this exciting next step for the precinct by re-inventing the iconic Jacksons on George as an around-the-clock destination – bigger and better than ever before.”
Designed by local, award-winning architects Studio Hollenstein, Jacksons on George will draw inspiration from the rich history of Circular Quay and aim to create a welcoming and sophisticated atmosphere that bolsters its energetic surrounds.
Developed and constructed by Lendlease, in a joint venture with China’s Ping An Real Estate and Japan’s Mitsubishi Estate Asia, Sydney Place is also comprised of the soaring 55-storey commercial tower under construction – 180 George Street – designed by one of the world’s leading architecture firms Foster + Partners. The precinct will also offer a major public square on George Street, well-connected to all modes of public transport nearby.
Lendlease has announced 180 George Street tenants to include global software company Salesforce, early-stage investment group Investible’s new shared office space, Greenhouse, and Australia’s largest commercial property services firm, JLL.
